India Face Afghanistan in Asian Games Cricket Quarter-Final
Shreyas Iyer-led India will play Afghanistan in the men’s cricket quarter-final at the Asian Games 2026 in Japan on Monday, September 28. The T20 match will be held at the Nisshin Cricket Ground, with play starting at 10:30 AM IST.
India, the defending champions, received a direct entry into the quarter-finals as the top-ranked T20I side. The squad includes stars such as Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Bishnoi alongside young talent.
Afghanistan finished second in Group A after rain washed out their match against Nepal on September 26. Led by Darwish Rasooli, they earlier beat hosts Japan to reach the knockout stage, and their spinners have been their main strength.
The match will be telecast live on the Sony Sports Network and streamed on Sony LIV. With rain a threat during the tournament, the winners advance to the October 1 semi-final. India remain strong favourites to defend their gold medal.
