Former India captain Rohit Sharma has ended speculation about his one-day international future, saying he plans to keep playing through the 2027 ODI World Cup. Speaking to JioStar ahead of India's three-match ODI series against the West Indies, Rohit said the thought would never cross his mind that his business was finished.

Rohit, 39, has retired from Tests and T20 internationals but remains active in ODIs. He said he was looking forward to the World Cup, explaining that ICC tournaments bring their own unique challenge because of different opponents and venues. Unlike Virat Kohli, who confirmed the 2027 edition will be his last World Cup, Rohit stopped short of naming it as his final tournament.

The 2027 ODI World Cup is scheduled from October 4 to November 21 in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Rohit captained India to the final of the 2023 edition, where they lost to Australia in Ahmedabad. In 288 ODIs he has scored 11,895 runs with 34 centuries, and holds the highest individual ODI score of 264.

His comments settle retirement chatter ahead of a home series and keep India's most experienced ODI batter in the frame for another World Cup.
