India face Sri Lanka in Asian Games cricket semi-final today

India will face Sri Lanka in the men’s cricket semi-final at the Asian Games 2026 on Thursday, October 1, at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Japan.
The match is the second semi-final of the men’s T20 competition, scheduled for the morning India time (reports list 10:30 AM IST). The winner advances to the gold-medal match on October 3.
Both teams reached the last four without playing a ball. India’s quarter-final against Afghanistan was abandoned because of persistent rain and a wet outfield, and Sri Lanka’s quarter-final against Nepal met the same fate on Tuesday. As the higher-seeded sides, both progressed under tournament rules.
Shreyas Iyer leads the Indian side, the defending champions. Sri Lanka are captained by Sahan Arachchige; they were knocked out at the quarter-final stage in 2022 by Afghanistan.
The first semi-final sees Pakistan take on Bangladesh earlier in the day. If rain washes out the semi-finals too, the higher-ranked teams progress — and a washed-out final would see the gold shared. The match will be telecast on the Sony Sports Network and streamed on SonyLIV.
