Odisha to Stay Hot and Humid Till October 7 as Monsoon Retreats

Odisha is likely to face hot and humid weather until October 7 as the southwest monsoon retreats from the state, weather officials said on Saturday. High temperatures and heavy moisture in the air will keep conditions uncomfortable across Odisha.
The monsoon’s withdrawal is bringing clearer skies to several parts of the state. With less cloud cover, stronger sunlight is pushing daytime temperatures up. At the same time, moisture left over from recent rains is keeping humidity high, making the heat feel more oppressive.
The heat is expected to be noticeable from the morning, and warm, humid conditions may continue through the night. Lighter winds over land can add to the discomfort by reducing any cooling effect.
October also marks the start of the cyclone watch period for Odisha’s coast. Weather systems developing over the Bay of Bengal in October and November can influence the state’s weather, though no system has formed yet.
Why it matters: residents will need a few more days of patience before real relief arrives.
