Kane and Saka Strike Twice as England Rout Croatia 7-0

England crushed Croatia 7-0 in the Nations League in Rijeka on Saturday, their biggest win of the Thomas Tuchel era. Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka scored twice each in the League A, Group 3 rout.

Kane opened the scoring in the eighth minute and added a second after the break, taking his England record to 89 goals in 124 appearances. He is now one cap short of Peter Shilton’s national appearance record. Jude Bellingham scored once and created three more, while Anthony Gordon and substitute Morgan Rogers also found the net.

The 7-0 result eclipsed England’s previous best against Croatia, a 5-1 World Cup qualifying win at Wembley in 2009. “We just kept the pace up and played through the gaps. We were very, very clinical,” Tuchel said after the match.

England moved to six points from three games, level with Spain at the top of the group. Croatia coach Slaven Bilic is under pressure after a second heavy defeat in a week.

Why it matters: the win keeps England on track for the Nations League quarter-finals, and Kane’s record keeps growing before the World Cup year.
