RSPCA Rescues Animals From Halesowen Sanctuary Over Neglect Fears

Dogs, cats, livestock and birds have been rescued from an animal sanctuary in Halesowen, England, after concerns were raised over their neglect.
West Midlands Police officers and the RSPCA conducted a joint operation last month to recover the animals, which included dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, ducks, geese and birds of prey like barn and snowy owls. The animals were found in conditions described as extreme.
Police also discovered nine non-viable firearms and a ninja star during the search, which were seized for safety. A detailed investigation is now underway.
“This was a distressing and complex incident,” said Sergeant Ben Dolan, the force’s wildlife, rural and heritage crime lead. “All the animals we recovered are alive and safe and are now in the care of the RSPCA.”
Why it matters: the rescue came after a member of the public raised the alarm, showing why reporting welfare concerns matters.
