AI agent for foster youth wins $100K hackathon prize

A student team has won a $100,000 prize for building an AI agent that helps foster youth find services. The win came at the Gloo AI Hackathon in Boulder.
The team from Austin Christian University built Fosterly. The AI tool connects young people aging out of foster care in Texas with housing, jobs and support services. It uses an intelligent agent to guide users step by step.
The hackathon drew over 1,000 builders in 115 teams. Its theme was “Building Together: Humans, Agents and the Future of Flourishing”. Teams worked through a 30-day virtual build starting September 8, then a 48-hour in-person build in Boulder. Fosterly aims to ensure young people do not slip through the cracks. Total prizes were $200,000. The event ran from October 6 to 8 and focused on using AI for faith and human flourishing.
Team leader Jack Malouff missed the event due to a medical emergency. His teammates dedicated the win to him with the message “Fight Like Jack”. The team plans to keep developing Fosterly for real-world use.
