Lions Launch Global Vision Week of Service

Lions International has called on Lions and Leos around the world to serve together during a Vision Week of Service from October 8 to 18, 2026. The initiative begins on World Sight Day.
Volunteers will run vision screenings, eyeglass recycling events and eye health education programmes. Projects will support inclusion for people who are blind or visually impaired.
The World Health Organization says more than 2.2 billion people have near or distance vision impairment. At least one billion of those cases could have been prevented or remain unaddressed.
During the 2025-26 fiscal year, Lions and Leos led more than 1.3 million vision initiatives in the United States alone. The Lions Clubs International Foundation awarded 8.67 million dollars that helped 4.37 million people in 30 countries.
Lions Clubs International President Mark S. Lyon said a single screening can open doors to learning, independence and opportunity.
The initiative continues a century of Lions service. Volunteers say even small acts, like collecting used glasses, change lives.
