Loyal dog leads Kansas police to fallen owner

A dog in Leawood, Kansas, has been hailed as a hero by police. The dog led an officer to its owner, who had fallen and could not get up.
An officer on patrol spotted the leashed dog alone in the middle of a residential street. The dog barked at the officer. The officer followed it for about half a block.
The dog led him up a driveway to a house. The garage door was open. The homeowner was lying on the floor inside. Police said the resident had been there for more than three hours.
The officer helped the homeowner. Medical personnel then treated the resident. The owner is now recovering safely at home, police said.
The incident happened on September 17. The Leawood Police Department shared bodycam footage on social media this week. The video quickly picked up likes and shares.
A second dog was also at the house. It was wearing a leash and waiting patiently.
“Thanks to the resident’s loyal companion, our officer was able to find them and get them the help they needed,” police said.
