A Bihar man missing for 21 years has been reunited with his family after a Facebook video posted by a police officer reached his brother. Ram Shanker Kushwaha, 15, boarded a train from his village of Maheshpura in Madhubani district on December 6, 2005, and never returned. He eventually reached the Ashram Swarg Sadan in Gwalior, where he has lived since 2018. Deputy Superintendent of Police Santosh Patel posted a video of the ashram's residents on Facebook. Kushwaha's brother Lalit saw the video on September 4, the day of Janmashtami, and recognised him instantly. The family travelled to Gwalior and brought him home on September 7, 2026. Remarkably, the family had never filed a missing-person complaint in the two decades since his disappearance. The reunion has drawn widespread attention as an example of how social media can bridge even the longest separations. Police say the case shows the value of using digital platforms to trace missing people.
