A police search dog named Archie found three young children lost in the Colorado wilderness on Saturday, ending a hours-long search that had deployed helicopters and drones. The children, aged nine and six and six, wandered about 1.5 miles from a family campsite east of Buena Vista near the Midland Bike Trail. The family noticed them missing around 9 a.m. and searched for two hours before calling 911 at 11 a.m. Canine deputy Archie, known as Arch, picked up the scent almost immediately and led searchers into the wilderness. The children were found around 2 p.m., uninjured and in good spirits. Chaffee County Sheriff Andy Rohrich praised the search teams and the dog's work. Helicopters and drones had joined the ground search as daylight wore on. The family had been camping in the area when the children strayed from the site. All three were checked over and returned to their relieved family the same afternoon.
