Texas teen with Down syndrome scores touchdown on senior night

A Texas high school football team gave a beloved senior the night of his life. Mason Wisnoski, who has Down syndrome, scored a touchdown for Manvel High School on senior night. Wisnoski, 18, suited up in a varsity uniform ahead of the Mavericks’ game against rival Alvin on September 24. He took the handoff and ran 30 yards into the end zone. It was his first touchdown. He had gone skydiving with his dad earlier that day for his 18th birthday. His teammates mobbed him after the score. The offensive line lifted him onto their shoulders and carried him off the field as the crowd cheered. Coach Kirk Martin said the idea came from his wife, and thanked Alvin head coach Matthew Bass for going along with the moment. Wisnoski is always around the team, fetching water and running celebration flags. “I am very excited,” he said after the game. The Mavericks went on to win 53-0, but the most memorable play of the night happened before kickoff.
