Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Barapullah Phase-III corridor in Delhi on 29 September, completing a continuous elevated link across the city.

The corridor stretches for nearly 9 km, connecting Mayur Vihar in east Delhi with AIIMS and south Delhi. Commuters who earlier took 35 to 40 minutes on this route can now reach in about 15 minutes.

Officials said the flyover will cut traffic at several congested junctions, including Sarai Kale Khan, Ashram and INA. It is expected to ease the daily commute for thousands of office-goers and hospital visitors.

The project has faced years of delays and cost overruns. Its opening is being seen as a major relief for east-south Delhi traffic, though officials will watch how it handles peak-hour loads.

Traffic police said diversions during peak hours will be reviewed in the first month of operations. Residents of nearby colonies have asked for better noise barriers and proper drainage along the elevated stretch.
