Upscale AI launches chip-linking Token Fabric

Nvidia-backed startup Upscale AI has launched Token Fabric, a platform that lets customers build data centres using AI chips from different suppliers. The system combines hardware and software to connect AI processors across a data centre without separate networking setups for each vendor. It uses Upscale’s networking chips and Nvidia’s Spectrum-X technology, with software that spots bottlenecks and flags equipment for replacement. The aim is to keep costly AI chips working instead of waiting for data. CEO Barun Kar expects Token Fabric revenue of tens of millions of dollars next year, potentially reaching the low hundreds of millions. The first part of the platform arrives in the fourth quarter, with the full rollout through 2027. Upscale was valued at $2 billion in June after a $190 million extension led by Premji Invest, the investment arm of Azim Premji. Total funding stands at $500 million. Backers include Nvidia, Salesforce and Temasek. The startup bets that neoclouds and large cloud providers want multi-vendor chips.
