Anthropic opens top AI models to more security teams

Anthropic is expanding a programme that lets vetted cybersecurity professionals test its most powerful AI models with fewer safeguards. The revamped Cyber Verification Programme, announced on Tuesday, merges two efforts run over the past six months. Project Glasswing gave critical-software defenders access to Claude Mythos, Anthropic's most cyber-capable model family. The original CVP loosened safeguards on Claude Opus and Sonnet for vetted teams. Partners under Glasswing found at least 129,000 verified vulnerabilities between April and July, with more than 33,000 rated critical or high severity. Anthropic's own open-source scanning found 5,500 more between April and October. The new programme has three tiers. The Defense tier covers incident response and malware analysis. The Red Team tier adds authorised penetration testing for organisations. The Specialized tier, with the fewest restrictions, is reserved for a small group authorised to test safety-critical systems such as power grids, flight systems and interbank transfer infrastructure. All three tiers include Claude Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5 and Mythos 5.1.
