India vs West Indies 1st T20I Today: All You Need to Know
India begin their five-match T20I series against the West Indies today, October 6, with the first game in Lucknow starting at 7 PM IST. The series marks a fresh start for the hosts under new captain Shreyas Iyer.
The series is an important building block for the 2027 T20 World Cup. India are expected to test young talent alongside senior players, with team management looking for consistency in the shortest format after a mixed run. The West Indies, two-time T20 world champions, remain dangerous opponents despite their ODI series loss.
All eyes will be on team selection — whether India back youth or experience in the top order. The Lucknow pitch traditionally favours spinners, which could shape both sides' playing XIs. Fans can watch the match live on Star Sports and stream it on JioHotstar.
With five games in quick succession, squad rotation is likely. A strong start at home would give Iyer's new-look side confidence for the rest of the series.
