Rohit Joins 12,000-Run Club With 72-Ball Ton in Guwahati

Rohit Sharma became only the third Indian to score 12,000 ODI runs during the record chase against the West Indies in Guwahati on Wednesday.
He reached the landmark with a single off Roston Chase in the 16th over, in his 282nd innings. Only Virat Kohli, who took 242 innings, has got there faster. Sachin Tendulkar needed 300.
Rohit joins Tendulkar and Kohli in the elite club and is the seventh batter overall to cross 12,000 runs in men’s ODIs.
He marked the milestone with his 35th ODI century, smashing 101 off 75 balls with 10 fours and six sixes. He reached his hundred in just 72 deliveries.
Since his 2007 debut, Rohit has played 290 ODIs with 35 centuries and 62 half-centuries. He holds the format’s highest individual score of 264.
Why it matters: at 39, Rohit keeps rewriting longevity records while anchoring India’s most fearsome opening pair alongside Shubman Gill.
