Dream edge Liberty 101-98 in OT despite Stewart’s 35

The Atlanta Dream moved within one win of the WNBA Finals with a 101-98 overtime victory over the New York Liberty on Wednesday night.
The Dream took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five semifinal series. Game 3 is on Friday in Brooklyn.
Breanna Stewart was magnificent in defeat. She scored 35 points with 11 rebounds and six assists. She became the first player in WNBA playoff history to record at least 35 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in a game.
Stewart scored 25 of her points in the first half. But the Liberty’s offence slowed after the break, and she managed only eight points in the second half.
Angel Reese scored 23 points for Atlanta. Naz Hillmon hit the go-ahead layup with 20.8 seconds left in overtime, and Reese sealed the win with free throws.
Rookie Marine Fauthoux sent the game to overtime with a three-pointer with 10.3 seconds left in regulation. The Liberty have now lost two straight after sweeping the first round.
