Caminero declares himself ‘best in the world’ after Rays sweep

Rays star Junior Caminero was at the centre of Tampa Bay’s wild celebration after the team swept the New York Yankees in the ALDS.
After the final out, Caminero made a dramatic sweeping gesture on the field. He shouted ‘the Yankees lose,’ a phrase made famous by his countryman David Ortiz, while doing Stephen Curry’s ‘night night’ celebration.
The party continued in the locker room. ‘Sweep! The Yankees lose!’ Caminero shouted during a postgame interview.
Caminero also praised Tampa Bay’s pitchers. He called Drew Rasmussen, Nick Martinez and Bryan Baker the best pitchers in the league. Asked what he was best at, he answered, ‘I’m the best in the world.’
The 23-year-old hit 42 home runs in the regular season and had a strong series against the Yankees. He also delivered a key single in the sixth inning of Game 3 that set up the decisive homer.
Tampa Bay now awaits the winner of the White Sox-Guardians series. The Rays will host the American League Championship Series starting Monday.
