CWC 2027 ballot draws 1.1 million applications in opening weekend

Applications for more than 1.1 million tickets were submitted during the opening weekend of ballot registrations for the Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, organisers said on Tuesday. More than 320,000 fans have registered for the ballot.

The India-Pakistan match has generated the strongest demand, with over 110,000 ticket applications. South Africa’s game against India drew more than 92,000 applications, while India v Australia attracted over 86,000.

“One million ticket applications in just over 48 hours of opening the ticket ballot is a demonstration of the attention, stature and affiliation for ICC Cricket World Cup 2027,” said ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta.

The ballot stays open until November 21. The 14-team tournament will be played across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia from October 2 to November 21. The ICC has called the response a sign of the tournament’s stature in the host region.

The tournament returns to southern Africa with an expanded 14-team field. Fans can register on the ICC’s official ticketing page. The ICC has warned that tickets bought from unauthorised platforms will be cancelled.
