England crush Croatia 7-0, their worst defeat ever

England inflicted the heaviest defeat in Croatia’s history on Saturday, winning 7-0 in Rijeka in the UEFA Nations League. It was Croatia’s worst-ever loss, surpassing the 6-0 defeat by Spain in 2018.
Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka scored two each. Kane extended his England goal record to 89 in his 124th appearance. Jude Bellingham scored once and set up three more, while Anthony Gordon and substitute Morgan Rogers also struck.
Croatia’s Luka Modric said he was ashamed of the performance. “It is difficult to find an explanation for such a performance without duels, fouls, aggressiveness, togetherness,” the 41-year-old said. “You can lose, or play against an opponent who is better. But losing like this is unacceptable.”
England have six points from three games and sit level with Spain in League A Group Three. The game was played behind closed doors, with only about 6,000 school children and 100 England fans present.
Croatia next host Spain in Split on Tuesday. England conclude the window against the Czech Republic at Wembley, also on Tuesday. Spain have won all 10 of their recent games.
