IMD: Monsoon Withdraws, Heavy Rain Alert in 13 States

The southwest monsoon is withdrawing from northwest India, the India Meteorological Department has said, even as heavy rain alerts continue across several states. Thirteen states, including Odisha, Kerala and Assam, are on rain alert.
Kerala and Tamil Nadu are expected to see heavy showers as the northeast monsoon approaches. The IMD has warned of very heavy rainfall in parts of Kerala, with fishermen advised to stay alert along the coast. Odisha and coastal regions may also see intense spells.
In the north, Delhi-NCR could receive light to moderate rain between October 6 and 8, which may bring slight relief from humid conditions. Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh are also on the watch list for scattered showers.
The IMD said monsoon withdrawal is progressing from Rajasthan and adjoining areas, marking the seasonal transition. Officials have advised residents in alert zones to avoid waterlogged areas and follow local advisories, as post-monsoon systems can trigger sudden downpours.
