Himachal Awards Rs 1 Crore Each to Kabaddi Gold Medallists

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on October 5 announced a cash reward of Rs 1 crore each for three Himachali players who won gold in kabaddi at the Asian Games 2026. Pushpa Rana, Jyoti Thakur, and Bhawna Thakur were part of the Indian women’s kabaddi team that clinched the top prize.

The Chief Minister also announced government jobs for the three players and Rs 1 crore for para-athlete Renuka Thakur for her achievements. The announcements were made at a felicitation ceremony honouring the state’s medal winners.

Sukhu said the players had brought glory to Himachal Pradesh and the country, and the state would continue to support its sportspersons. The rewards add to an earlier announcement of Rs 33.33 lakh each for four other medal winners. The government said it is committed to building better sports infrastructure so more athletes from the hill state can shine on the international stage.
