Travel Conservation Auction Raises Funds for Wild Places

The Adventure Travel Conservation Fund has opened its seventh annual Travel Conservation Auction, turning adventure trips and outdoor gear into funding for grassroots conservation.
The online auction began on September 27, World Tourism Day, and bidding stays open until October 20. Anyone in the world can bid.
The catalogue includes donated adventure trips, outdoor equipment and travel experiences from businesses across the outdoor industry. Proceeds support community-led projects that protect wildlife, ecosystems and cultural landscapes.
The fund says its community has so far helped finance 53 conservation projects in 28 countries. The projects focus on places that adventure tourism depends on.
The auction model lets travellers fund conservation directly. Instead of a donation, bidders get a trip or gear while the money goes to field projects.
This year’s auction runs through late October. Winners will be announced after bidding closes, and the funds will flow to grassroots groups chosen by the fund.
