IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert for Odisha, Himachal, Uttarakhand

The India Meteorological Department has issued heavy rainfall warnings for Odisha, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, forecasting intense showers over the next 48 hours.
Odisha is expected to receive very heavy rainfall as a low-pressure system moves across the region. District administrations have been asked to stay alert for waterlogging and possible flash floods in low-lying areas.
In the hill states, the IMD has warned of heavy rain and possible snowfall at higher altitudes in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Travellers heading to the hills have been advised to check weather updates before starting their journeys.
Authorities have urged residents to avoid venturing near rivers and streams, and disaster response teams have been put on standby. The IMD said conditions would be reviewed continuously and fresh advisories issued as needed.
Uttarakhand may see isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph. The IMD has also forecast extremely heavy rainfall of over 21 cm in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim through October 5. Rain is also likely across the northeast and southern states, while Konkan and Goa remain hot and humid. The southwest monsoon continues its withdrawal.
