The Vvaan adds Rs 5.25 cr on Monday, nears Rs 40 cr

The Vvaan – Force of the Forest held its ground on its first Monday, adding around Rs 5.25 crore to take its four-day India net collection to approximately Rs 38.85 crore, according to Sacnilk’s early estimates. The Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia starrer saw a drop of over 63% from its Sunday business, a typical weekday correction after a strong opening weekend.

Trade tracker Bollywood Hungama pegged the Monday figure slightly lower at Rs 4.50 crore, taking its four-day India net to Rs 36.27 crore. The film had opened at around Rs 7.25-8 crore on Friday before climbing to Rs 11-14 crore over the weekend on the back of strong word of mouth around its folklore-driven fantasy narrative.

Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra of Panchayat fame and inspired by the Van Devi temple legend near Patna, the film now faces the crucial weekday test. With Tuesday traditionally showing a jump on lower ticket prices, the film’s hold over the next few days will decide whether it can emerge as a clean hit.
