Mitchell Tenpenny’s fund donates $110,000 at Grand Ole Opry

Country star Mitchell Tenpenny’s 10Penny Fund donated $110,000 to the Cancer Support Community during a benefit show at the Grand Ole Opry on October 6.

The special night raised awareness about the emotional, social and mental health needs of cancer patients and their families. The Opry donated $5 from every ticket sold to the fund.

The lineup, curated by Tenpenny, included Chris Young, Lee Brice, Devin Dawson, Ernest, Sierra Hull, Jackie Lee and Jo Dee Messina. Young announced an extra $25,000 donation of his own. Cancer survivor Macy Page served as guest announcer. Tenpenny said the Opry show replaced his usual October cornhole tournament fundraiser, taking the cause to a bigger stage. The fund focuses on emotional and social support for patients and families facing a cancer diagnosis.

The evening also launched a partnership between the 10Penny Fund and the Cancer Support Community, a global nonprofit that supports people affected by cancer.

Context: Tenpenny has raised funds for the cause for years through concerts, events and merchandise sales.
