Defence Ministry Signs Rs 661.50 Crore BrahMos Deal For Navy

The Ministry of Defence has signed a Rs 661.50 crore contract with BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited for Indian Navy ships.
The contract was signed on October 6 in New Delhi in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
It covers the procurement of BrahMos fire control systems and launchers for Navy warships.
The deal falls under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category. IDDM stands for Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured.
The project carries a minimum of 68 per cent indigenous content. Indian industries, including micro, small and medium enterprises, will take part in the supply chain.
The project is expected to generate employment over a period of three years.
The BrahMos system is the Indian Navy’s primary surface-to-surface missile for maritime strike operations. It can target land and sea targets with pinpoint accuracy at supersonic speed.
The ministry said the contract strengthens India’s maritime security and marks a key step in indigenising advanced military technology.
