Mumbai CNG Price Rises to Rs 89/kg

CNG prices in Mumbai have risen by Rs 1 per kg to Rs 89 per kg. Mahanagar Gas Limited announced the hike this week.

The revised rates came into effect from September 30-October 1 across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. This is the fifth CNG price hike this year. Prices have risen from Rs 80.50 in January.

MGL said the hike reflects rising input gas costs linked to the West Asia crisis and higher international gas prices. It said the move would ensure continuity of supply.

The increase affects around 12.93 lakh vehicles in the region, including auto-rickshaws, taxis and buses. Commuters may face pressure on fares.

MGL operates over 500 CNG stations across Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Latur and Dharashiv. It also supplies piped gas to about 3.2 million households.

PNG prices for households remain unchanged at Rs 50 per unit. The union leader warned that auto unions may push for a minimum fare increase of one rupee.
