Texas teen with Down syndrome scores dream touchdown

A Texas high school senior has lived his dream. Mason Wisnoski, who has Down syndrome, scored a touchdown for Manvel High School on Senior Night.
Mason took the handoff and ran 30 yards into the end zone. It was his first touchdown. The game was against rival Alvin High School on September 24.
His teammates then lifted him onto their shoulders. They carried him off the field as the crowd cheered. His father said it looked like a scene from the movie Rudy.
Mason celebrated his 18th birthday the same week. He went skydiving with his dad before the game.
Mason is a familiar face on the sidelines. Coach Kirk Martin said he runs onto the field with the team. He hands out water and runs the celebration flags.
The idea came from the coach’s wife. The rival team’s coach, Matthew Bass, agreed to the plan.
Manvel won the game 53-0. But the most memorable play came before kickoff.
“It makes a parent’s heart really proud,” his mother Stephanie told reporters. Mason summed it up in two words: “Awesome, I feel happy.”
