Fitzpatrick wins Open de France by one shot in Paris
Matt Fitzpatrick won the Open de France on Sunday, closing with a final-round 67 at Le Golf National to finish one shot ahead of France’s Adrien Saddier.
The Englishman held his nerve down the stretch in Paris to claim his first DP World Tour title of the season, delighting the gallery at the 2024 Olympic venue.
Saddier pushed him all the way in front of a home crowd but fell just short, leaving Fitzpatrick to lift the trophy on the 18th green.
The victory is a timely boost for the two-time Ryder Cup winner, who has been working his way back to top form after an inconsistent spell on both sides of the Atlantic.
Fitzpatrick said he was pleased with the way he handled the pressure over the closing holes. The win moves him up the season rankings and sets him up well for the run of big events to come.
