Nigeria’s Super Eagles face Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday, September 29 at the Estadio Nacional 24 de Setembro in Bissau — Matchday 2 of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, Group L. Kick-off is at 4pm local time (10:30 PM IST).

Both teams won their openers and sit on three points: Nigeria came from behind to beat Madagascar 2-1 in Uyo, while Guinea-Bissau beat Tanzania 2-0 away. Guinea-Bissau lead the group on goal difference.

Only one qualifying place from the group is genuinely open — Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania are co-hosts of AFCON 2027 and qualify automatically, with Madagascar the other group member.

Nigeria are without star striker Victor Osimhen, ruled out of the September qualifiers through injury. Taiwo Awoniyi has been drafted in, while debutants George Ilenikhena and Moses Usor scored against Madagascar and will hope to keep their places.

Nigeria have won three of the four previous meetings, but Guinea-Bissau’s only win — 1-0 in Abuja in March 2023 through Mama Balde — is a reminder of the danger. Anything less than three points would raise serious questions about the Super Eagles’ campaign.
