Ayushman Bharat Crosses 13 Crore Admissions, Says JP Nadda
Union Health Minister JP Nadda on September 25 inaugurated Aarogya Manthan 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, marking eight years of Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY and five years of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
Nadda said the scheme has enabled over 13 crore hospital admissions with treatment worth more than Rs 2 lakh crore. It covers over 60 crore beneficiaries, making it the world’s largest health assurance programme.
Prime Minister Modi said in an X post on September 23 that 13.25 crore admissions worth Rs 2.03 lakh crore had been recorded as of August 31. Over 48.5 crore Ayushman cards have been issued.
The scheme now covers all senior citizens aged 70 and above, regardless of income. Nadda also highlighted portability of benefits, especially for migrant workers.
On the digital side, 97.8 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts have been created, with 121 crore health records linked. About 5.6 lakh health facilities and 11 lakh professionals are registered. The milestones underline the scheme’s scale; expanding coverage and claims efficiency are the next challenges.
