Delhi HC Orders Meta to Remove Modi Deepfake Image in 24 Hours

The Delhi High Court on September 25 directed Meta to remove within 24 hours an AI-generated morphed image of a woman shown alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The order was passed by a single-judge bench of Justice Girish Kathpalia.

The image was allegedly displayed at a Citizens for Justice and Peace protest at Jantar Mantar and circulated on social media. The woman’s photo was allegedly used without consent in an AI face-swap; she also received threats. Notices were issued to four CJP activists.

The court directed Delhi Police to give the petitioner complete protection. An FIR has already been registered, and the police must file a status report. The matter will be heard next on October 14.

Some jobs-media outlets, including CareerIndia, have claimed the order triggered an AI safety hiring boom at firms like Google, Wipro and Accenture. That framing is thinly sourced and not independently corroborated.

The solid facts are the court order and the next hearing; the wider hiring impact remains unproven.
