Families of sick children in Atlanta now have a free place to stay just steps from the hospital, thanks to a new $90 million Ronald McDonald House that opened in December.

The five-story, 126,000-square-foot facility sits next to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Arthur M. Blank Hospital. It has 92 guest rooms and 18 transplant suites designed for families of children with weakened immune systems. A five-story indoor playscape, gardens and an on-site dining area staffed by two full-time chefs complete the building.

The House lets families traveling for specialized medical care stay close to their children at little or no cost. In 2025 alone, Ronald McDonald House Atlanta provided more than 23,000 nights of rest and saved families nearly $9 million in lodging, food and transportation costs.

“We are a place where families stay when they’re traveling with sick or injured children, often when care wouldn’t be possible without this resource,” said Tracey Atwater, the nonprofit’s president and CEO.

The charity has served Atlanta for more than 45 years. The new building represents a 75 percent expansion over its previous location.
