Ayush Sector Supports 1.76 Million Jobs, May Touch $318B

India’s Ayush services sector contributed an estimated $36.92 billion to the economy in FY25 and could scale to $216-318 billion by 2047, the government said on September 30, citing a study by the Research and Information System for Developing Countries.
The sector has recorded a 16.91 per cent compound annual growth rate since FY23, supports about 1.76 million livelihoods and generated $1.77 billion in Medical Value Travel revenue, the Ministry of Ayush said. The findings were released during the 11th Ayurveda Day celebrations in Nagpur.
Women account for 43 per cent of the overall Ayush services workforce, with female participation exceeding 50 per cent in several organised segments, according to the report. Clinics and day-care centres together make up more than 71 per cent of total sectoral revenue.
Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav said the findings affirm that Ayush is a dynamic and high-growth engine of India’s economy. Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha said the economic contribution of the sector was measured for the first time through a nationally scaled survey of more than 15,000 establishments.
