Columbus Foundation sets record with $477.4M in 2025 grants

The Columbus Foundation gave away a record 477.4 million dollars to more than 5,200 nonprofits in 2025, the Ohio community foundation announced. The grants brought the foundation’s total giving since 1943 to 4.6 billion dollars. Assets stood at 4.2 billion dollars, and the foundation received 262.5 million dollars in new donations during the year.
The annual Harrison M. Sayre Award went to Huntington National Bank, recognising 54 million dollars in support for Pelotonia cancer research. The Columbus Foundation Award went to Columbus Early Learning Centers, along with a 100,000-dollar grant.
Foundation leaders said the record giving reflected the generosity of donors across central Ohio and the region’s strong nonprofit sector. Community foundations pool charitable donations from individuals, families, and businesses, then distribute grants to local causes. The Columbus Foundation is among the largest community foundations in the United States.
The foundation was established in 1943 and now serves donors across central Ohio.
