Odisha launches tourism portal, investment system

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched a new tourism investment portal and approval system at the 7th Odisha Travel Bazaar in Bhubaneswar on October 3.

The launch came with the Odisha Tourism (Amendment) Policy 2026, which makes it far easier to build hotels in the state. The minimum room requirement for star hotels has been cut from 50 to 10. The capital investment subsidy has been raised from Rs 20 crore to Rs 120 crore.

The government has earmarked Rs 1,500 crore for tourism between 2026 and 2031 and created a 5,500-acre land bank for projects. A new single-window system will clear investment proposals faster. Tourist Police units will be set up at 29 locations and 1,000 lifeguards deployed at beaches.

“Odisha is ready to welcome the world,” the Chief Minister said. Former India captain Kapil Dev and Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida attended the event. Parida said the state’s beaches, temples and wildlife make it a complete destination.

The travel bazaar brought together tour operators and investors from across the country. The state aims to make tourism a major driver of jobs and growth over the next five years.
