UK PM says ‘strong indications’ Iran behind airbase plot

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has said there are strong indications that Iran played a part in a suspected terrorist plot near a US-used airbase in England.
Burnham told the BBC on Wednesday that the weekend incident at RAF Fairford was an ongoing, complex and serious police investigation. He said Britain was working closely with the United States.
Five British men in their 20s were arrested on Sunday near the base on suspicion of explosives and terrorism offences. They were released on bail a day later.
Police said on Tuesday that no explosives were found in the vehicles, though a quantity of petrol was recovered. A bomb disposal team had examined the scene.
On Thursday, a 27-year-old British-Iranian man was arrested in Westminster on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts in connection with the plot, CNN reported.
Iran has denied involvement. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused Burnham of barking up the wrong tree. RAF Fairford hosts US Air Force bombers.
