Trump: No Iran Attack Before Midterms, Talks Productive

Donald Trump has said the United States will not attack Iran before the November midterm elections. He cited ‘productive’ talks with Tehran.
Trump made the statement on Truth Social on Thursday. He said no attack was planned before the November 3 polls.
The comments came after reports that military action was being considered. Oil prices had surged on the fears. Brent settled 4.1 per cent higher at $104.27 on Thursday.
Trump also declined Saudi requests for direct US military help against the Houthis. The Pentagon will provide intelligence and other support.
Iran’s foreign minister said Tehran was reviewing the US response to its proposal. The proposal would reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days.
The US-Iran war is in its eighth month. Washington has also imposed fresh sanctions on Iranian oil networks.
Trump has also kept economic pressure on Tehran. Fresh sanctions hit 17 vessels moving Iranian oil. The Strait of Hormuz remains the key flashpoint. About 20 per cent of global oil flowed through it before the war.
