Pakistan Tells UN India Backs Terror Proxies in Afghanistan

Pakistan has accused India of providing material and logistical support to Afghanistan’s Taliban government to facilitate terrorist attacks against Pakistan.
Muhammad Jawad Ajmal, counsellor at Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the UN, made the claim while exercising Pakistan’s right of reply to remarks by the Indian representative at the UN on October 7.
Ajmal said India’s newfound love for the Taliban regime was no accident. He alleged that New Delhi was supporting the Afghan authorities under the garb of humanitarian aid.
He further claimed that India was using proxies in Afghanistan to support militant groups, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and the Balochistan Liberation Army, which Pakistan calls Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan.
Ajmal also accused India of mainstreaming Islamophobia and seeking demographic changes in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan’s Foreign Office publicised the remarks on Thursday. The reports carried no immediate Indian response.
Ajmal was speaking in the UN’s Sixth Committee during Pakistan’s right of reply. He also accused India of institutionalised Hindutva and Islamophobia, and of seeking demographic changes in Jammu and Kashmir in violation of Security Council resolutions.
