Houthis strike two Saudi airports as Turkey, Pakistan send troops

Yemen’s Houthi rebels have struck two airports in Saudi Arabia, officials said. The Saudi civil aviation authority confirmed that King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport and Najran International Airport were hit on Monday night. Three people suffered minor injuries and there was material damage. The authority did not name the Houthis, but Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group fired a large number of ballistic and cruise missiles and drones at Saudi airports and other targets. He warned international airlines to stop using Saudi airspace. Saree also claimed a missile hit Abha airport, which Saudi officials have not confirmed. The strikes come as Turkey and Pakistan agreed to a rapid deployment of troops to support Saudi Arabia under the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement. The Yemeni government separately said it recaptured the Bab el-Mandeb strait. The escalation threatens Red Sea shipping and regional aviation badly. Airlines are reviewing routes while governments urge restraint from all sides.
