Houthi attacks on Saudi airports kill 3, injure 36

Three people were killed and 36 injured in attacks claimed by Yemen’s Houthi rebels on two Saudi airports this week, Saudi Arabia’s aviation authority said. An attack on Abha International Airport on Tuesday killed two women, Moroccan and Algerian nationals, and wounded 28 others. A strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Wednesday killed a Sudanese resident and injured eight. Both attacks caused damage to airport facilities. The Saudi-led coalition said it destroyed the ballistic missile launcher used in the Riyadh attack. The Houthis claimed both attacks, saying they used drones on Riyadh and ballistic missiles and drones on Abha. The group had warned airlines against using Saudi airspace. Flights were disrupted. More than 150 Riyadh flights were cancelled on Thursday, with long delays reported. The Gulf Cooperation Council condemned the attacks and urged a firm international response. The strikes come as Saudi-backed Yemeni forces press Operation Dawn of Yemen against the Houthis, who seized the Bab al-Mandeb Strait area last month.
