Gunmen kill seven in attack on bus in Syria’s Homs

At least seven people were killed and four wounded when gunmen opened fire on a passenger bus in Syria’s Homs province late on September 30.
The bus was carrying engineers and workers of a private electricity company, along with a Syrian Electricity Company employee. The attack happened near the Masyaf Bridge as they returned home from work.
State news agency SANA reported the toll, citing a source in the Homs health directorate. Security forces reached the scene and opened an investigation.
No group had claimed responsibility. Authorities had not identified a clear motive, according to reports.
On the same day, a gas pipeline blast near Damascus knocked three power stations offline. The Syrian Electricity Company warned of longer power rationing hours.
The incidents underline Syria’s fragile security since the fall of the Assad government in late 2024. Deadly shootings and explosions have continued in Damascus and other parts of the country.
