Five Indians rescued after tanker hit by projectile in Hormuz strait

Five Indian nationals have been rescued after their tanker was struck by a projectile in the Strait of Hormuz. The Embassy of India in Oman coordinated the rescue on October 3. All five were shifted ashore safely.
The vessel is the Kuwait-flagged crude oil tanker MT Kazimah III. It was en route to the port of Lome in Togo when the incident occurred. The embassy thanked Omani authorities for their support.
The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed the rescue. It said it remains committed to the safety and welfare of Indian seafarers abroad. The embassy did not share details about the nature or source of the projectile.
More than 4,500 Indian seafarers are currently on commercial vessels in the region, according to MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. Last month, one Indian seafarer was killed and 19 rescued after an attack on the MV Cape Dao off Oman. The ministry called continued attacks on shipping deeply worrisome.
