Trump Mobile Hack: What It Means for Customers

Trump Mobile has suffered its second hack in about a month. Here is what customers need to know.
A ransomware group called BYOD says it stole the personal data of 3,615 customers. Names, email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses and order details were posted on a dark web site.
The group claims it infected an employee of Liberty Mobile, the company that runs Trump Mobile’s network, with malware. It says Trump Mobile admitted it had “no team to handle this.”
If you are a customer, watch for phishing emails and unexpected messages. Consider freezing your credit and changing passwords reused elsewhere.
The breach also exposed data of Trump Organization executives. Trump Mobile has not publicly confirmed the incident. A separate group claimed a 4,000-user breach last month.
The Register reported some customers never even received their gold T1 devices. Cybernews noted neither the Trump Organization nor Liberty Mobile responded.
Ransomware.live lists Trump Mobile as a BYOD victim. Hendry Adrian’s tracker notes the breach was discovered on October 5.
