Harmanpreet Kaur’s Captaincy Legacy: A Look Back at Her Record

Harmanpreet Kaur announced on Tuesday that she is stepping down as captain of the Indian women’s cricket team in all formats. Here is what her leadership leaves behind.
Kaur, 37, first led India in 2012. She captained the side in five Tests, 51 one-day internationals and 155 T20 internationals. That makes her the most capped captain in women’s T20I history.
Her biggest moment came last year. She led India to their first-ever 50-over World Cup triumph on home soil. Under her, India also won two T20 Asian Cup titles and two Asian Games gold medals, the latest at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.
In Tests, she holds the most wins by an Indian women’s captain. Her teams beat heavyweights England and Australia. She also led India in the last four T20 World Cups, reaching the semi-finals twice.
Her decision followed a review meeting with BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia on Monday. Kaur said she will keep playing. India face Zimbabwe at home from October 16 under a new leader.
