Crew-13 Reaches Space Station in Record 8 Hours

NASA’s SpaceX Crew-13 mission has set a speed record. The mission launched on October 1 from Cape Canaveral, Florida. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carried the Crew Dragon spacecraft Grace to the International Space Station. The crew has four members: NASA astronauts Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney, Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov. The spacecraft docked with the station just 7 hours and 55 minutes after liftoff. This is the fastest journey ever by a US spacecraft to the station. The record was possible because of a carefully planned fast-rendezvous flight path. Such quick arrivals reduce the time astronauts spend in the cramped capsule before reaching the station. The crew will now begin a science expedition on the orbiting laboratory. NASA said everything proceeded according to schedule during the launch. The mission is the 13th operational crew rotation flight by SpaceX under NASA’s commercial crew programme.
