ChatGPT Adds Virtual Try-On for Online Shopping

OpenAI has launched a virtual try-on feature for shopping in ChatGPT. The feature was announced on October 1 and is available on mobile and web. A new ‘Try on’ button appears on supported clothing and accessory listings. Users can upload a selfie or take a photo, and ChatGPT generates an image showing how the item might look on them. Users can also upload a screenshot of an item and ask ChatGPT to try it on. The feature is powered by ChatGPT Images 2.5, a new image model that OpenAI says has more natural lighting and richer textures. OpenAI also launched Favorites, which lets users save products to a Library and organise them into folders. The selfie used for try-ons is saved as a reference photo for future use. Users can change or delete it under Settings, then Personalization, then Reference photos. The rollout is global, though the button may not appear on every listing.
