Trump’s ‘Super Intelligence Force’, explained

The White House has formed a new task force on artificial intelligence called the "Super Intelligence Force". Here is what it is and what it must do.
The group is an ad hoc body created to examine the risks and opportunities of AI and to recommend what role the federal government should play in overseeing the technology.
It will be led by Jay Clayton, who heads the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Clayton confirmed he would lead the group, effectively serving as US President Donald Trump's AI czar.
The task force has 120 days to draft its report. That timeline sets delivery for early 2027.
"Super intelligence" is Trump's term for AI. Clayton said the President asked for the group "to ensure delivery on his promise to keep us in a leadership position in super intelligence and to put the interests of the American people first."
The report is expected to assess the risks posed by AI and what regulatory responsibilities the federal government should bear. The creation of the group was first reported by the Wall Street Journal on Saturday.
The move signals that AI governance remains a priority for the administration as frontier systems grow more capable and debates over their oversight intensify.
